Mélanie Ferrero

Born in Montreal of rather diverse origins (Italian, German, French, Irish and Basque), Mélanie has been immersed in the arts from an early age.  She was introduced to music at a very early age, and later developed a passion for theater. Sports, visual arts, communications and art history are also part of her life.  She was lucky enough to spend a year studying in Spain, where she not only learned an extremely warm language, but also met a people whose culture, dances, music, history and art will stay with her forever.

Following university studies in the arts and communications, she has never ceased to be involved in the various artistic disciplines that ignite her inner flame.  Her colorful career path led her to join the Cirque du Soleil - Quidam costume team.  From Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui to Casino de Montréal, Théâtre du Rideau Vert and many other venues, she built up a network in the Montreal costume world, finally settling in at Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal in 2004.  She assists several costume designers, including François Barbeau. Since 2012, she has headed up this prestigious costume workshop.

Through numerous encounters in the milieu, she was approached to create several unique costume designs for dance artists in Montreal, mainly in contemporary dance.
