Second projet in lab from 2025 to 2028 : KÒSA
KÒSA explores the theme of death by examining its various dimensions: the physical force, the gravity and the universal metaphor of it, the liminal world, mourning and the void, dreams and spirituality, scientific knowledge and youthful wisdom. The LAB'Ò is informed by interviews made with children as well as specialists in theology, thanatology, physics, and astrophysics. It traverses the body and the kinesthetic states of collapsing, falling, and open the way to multiple realms. The documentary approach and the gathering of testimonies, central to all of Rhodnie’s productions, anchor, nourish, and refine KÒSA's creative process.
From aesthetics to scenography, we find a thread tied to the theme of death through the lens of Afro-descendant ancestral practices—cyclical, ever-shifting, like a body returned to the multiple grounds. This dimension (as of today) will be shaped through dance, music, voice, scenography, and light.
In this regard, light will embody a spiritual breath, casting optical illusions and revealing the weight and depth of objects. While the materials remain to be defined, we envision large modular, versatile boxes that may at times serve as coffins, shrouds, or passages of light through which one may cross from one realm to another.
